Me and my sweet husband.
As I have told some of you, our family has several big projects staring us straight on. We have some big projects that we would like to get finished in a short amount of time. We are working on landscaping the front of our house. No big deal, right? Actually what looked like a small area to landscape turns out to be MUCH bigger than it looks! Brandon managed to get all of the old shrubs uprooted and hauled out of the way and got the ground tilled and ready to place the new shrubs. We planned to finish our project this weekend. Mom graciously agreed to take both boys to Greenfield with her to visit Papa and Grandma so we would have limited interruptions and be able to hopefully accomplish more.
Perhaps I should have known when Brandon didn't make it in from work Friday night until about 2:30 a.m. that things would not go as planned. I knew that more than anything he needed sleep! When we woke up Saturday morning I began getting the boys ready for mom to pick them up and saw that it was pouring rain just as it had the entire night before. Mom picked the boys up around 9:00 and I cleaned house while Brandon slept in. He was up around 11:00 a.m. and we saw there was a break in the rain. We quickly hurried out to the front to try to at least get our edging laid down before the next down pour arrived. We got one section of our edging down and had to call it quits. The yard was nothing but a big mud puddle and we could barely maneuver around without being in mud up to our knees.
We accepted that we were not going to get much done and decided to enjoy a little time to ourselves. We cleaned up and went out to eat. Now, I love my children dearly and miss them terribly when they are not with me but I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed a meal without having to referee or clean up spills, etc. I was able to enjoy a HOT plate of food and endless chips, salsa and cheese dip! After a quick trip to Wal-Mart we were headed back home and stayed in the rest of the night relaxing and catching up with one another which is sometimes what we neglect in our hectic weeks of work and raising children. It was so nice and although we got NOTHING done that needed to be done we got EXACTLY what we both needed. Thanks, mom, for taking the boys so we could rest and ready ourselves for another hectic week! :)
