Deal...or No Deal?

Ok, this story has to be told. Lawson and I love to watch Deal or No Deal on Monday nights. He loves to try to guess what case number the person picking them will choose next. He told me this past Monday night that when we go on that show (me and him) that he is going to pick case number one! He even went so far as to tell me what we both could wear on the show! He's FOUR! I got so tickled at him telling me how much Howie would love his Thomas the Train shirt.

But the truly funny part to this story is what happened before Deal or No Deal actually came on. I had turned the TV on a little before it was time for the show and saw that another reality game show was on. (How many of these can they come up with?) This one was "My dad is better than your dad". Lawson was intrigued as he watched the sons and daughters cheering their fathers on though the various activities and competitions. After each one he would say "my dad can do that" almost if he was competing with them. Lawson and his dad are great friends and buddies. Lawson thinks there is nothing his dad can't do--or so I thought. The last competition was bobbing for tomatoes in a water bin full of snakes. He watched one dad dive in to the tub and looked at me and said, "Well, my dad CAN'T do that!" Guess he knows his dad's limitations. After Brandon heard the story I think he was a little relieved that Lawson wouldn't be begging him to go on that show!

I am so glad that both my boys are so close with their daddy. From the time they were both born when I went back to work from maternity leave Brandon has taken care of them in the mornings. I think he has enjoyed his time with them every bit as much as they have theirs with him. For five years now, Brandon has functioned on little sleep as he gets home late at night from work and is up bright and early to accomodate toddler schedules. Brandon sometimes doubts what he means to them as he teases that they are mama's boys (and in some ways they are) but they love their daddy and love every minute they spend with him! I am so thankful for a husband that loves his family and his kids and takes such great care of us all!

Yes, these times are frustrating but the stories to share for years just keep coming and coming! Congratulations on baby news! We'll definitely keep ya'll in our prayers. I have to cast my vote for a slick-legged girl! Girls are so much fun to dress and play dolls with! However, I'm trying to sell Matthew on having one more in a couple of years and I would love for it to be a hairy-legged boy!
