We spent Christmas in Kentucky with Brandon's parents. We began the trip on Tuesday, December 23. What normally takes us only 5 hours to get to Lexington ended up taking about 7 due to stopping to feed Rhett, potty breaks, etc. By the time we arrived in Lexington (still 3 hours away from our destination!) the boys were fit to be tied! It began sleeting and the roads started freezing. After sliding around on the interstate for a few miles and seeing countless cars in ditches, we decided there was still too much road to cover at that point and decided to spend the night there. Luckily, Brandon's cousins Shane and Chrissy live in Lexington and graciously let us crash at their house for the night. Despite the circumstances we had a very enjoyable visit there.
The next morning we got up and headed to Inez. Made it with no problems and got there well in time for the delicious Christmas Eve feast complete with Prime Rib!! We enjoyed our visit but were worn out. Rhett didn't rest well away from home which made for really long nights for us all.
Christmas morning we woke to lots of gifts and wonderful family time. The boys were loaded down with toys including a new game and Nerf guns. I kid you not: these guns are almost as tall as they are! They are massive! Rhett got a very special clock! It is beautiful. The face opens on the hour and plays a different tune each time. It is so pretty and so special! A real keep-sake for him!
Christmas day was spent at Brandon's Uncle Darriel and Aunt Lillie's house for lunch. It was delicious and we got a lot of good family time again.
We headed home Saturday and although it was hard to say good-bye we were ready to get home. After another stop in Lexington (to pick up my Christmas present: a pair of Coach boots at an UNBELIEVABLE price--this in and of itself is story worthy but I'll spare everyone the details!) we were Tennessee bound. We made it in to Jackson to celebrate Jess's birthday with him at the Spaghetti Store and were home by 9:00. A LONG day but good day.
We are so blessed with family!

I know you were glad to get back in your own bed and get Rhett back in his own bed! :) FYI: I started a new blog, klassykids-stephanie.blogspot.com about my consignment sale. Check it out if you get a chance, and share it if you can.... THANKS!!
