In with the new

Times, they are a changing. Spring is here and with it came promises of new beginnings. Promises of flowers to bloom. Promises of budding trees. Promises of green grass. Of fresh, clear, blue skies and warm sunshine. We welcome it. And we bask in it.

Springtime reassures us that the circle of life is alive and kicking. Everything is revived. Hums of lawnmowers and giggling neighborhood kids usher in the warmth. And you can feel it, you know? That warm feeling isn't just about walking outdoors and feeling the sun kiss your skin. It's a warmth from deep within. It beams outward. As open windows and screen doors allow that cool breeze to flow through, it flows through our veins just as much. We see children filter out of houses into driveways bouncing basketballs, reuniting with bicycles, dragging out the baseball mitts and bats and breaking in the old trampolines. And, well, let's be honest. Kids aren't the only ones that do that. Some of us *bigger* kids do as well.

It's true. This is most definitely me. Reliving the old cheerleading days. And GASP! My old cheer coach is cringing somewhere from the toes that aren't pointed in my toe-touch. Still, mama had to prove she still had it, right?!

Moving on. We use the sunshine as any excuse to get outdoors. Like teaching our kids how to ride a bike or picnicking.

We use sunshine for an excuse to drive with the sunroof open, hand pumping the steering wheel while belting out lyrics to old-school Bon Jovi songs. And I have to say--it rocked. I could have totally made it as a rock star.

And speaking of rock star...check out mine. Totally digging that sunshine. All kicked back so cool-like. Goodness, don't you just want to eat him up?!

The beautiful weather pushed us all the way to my hometown for a couple of days. We enjoyed being at my grandparents house. I swear it's the most peaceful, serene place on earth. It's like their own private park in their backyard. I love going and kick myself for not going more often. The boys love it as much as I do. Especially when you throw in the fact that playing with their cousins is part of the package.

We enjoy the times we get to sit back and relax with family members that we don't get to see every day. I love seeing how sweet Campbell is growing every day and is just the spitting image of her mama.

The sunshine also pushed Aunt Mandy in our direction. We all enjoyed getting to visit with her. We made a trip to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate Lawson's third report card in a row with straight A's. You should see the competitiveness between her and her brother. It's hysterical. From X-Box games to Chuck E. Cheese arcade games. That day was full of laughter and I just soaked it all in.

And I've yet to mention our really big news. Daddy's got a brand new job. He's home at night! Yep, that's right. We probably didn't even realize what we were missing until we had him with us in the evenings. But holy cow! What a difference it makes! And the boys love having his attention divided throughout the entire week rather than competing for it for just a mere two days a week like we were used to. Life is absolutely as it should be. And all because of prayer I feel certain!

I hope that you'll go out today and enjoy the sunshine. Even if it is figurative sunshine. There are so many things all around us to be thankful for. Look for the small things. The little things that fuel your soul. Find that spot in your heart and camp there for a while. Sometimes a change of pace is what we need. Sometimes we need to just say no to all the thousands of requests for our attention swirling around us. Surround yourself with friends, family, laughter. Just bask in the moment of now. After all, it's all we're promised.

Happy Spring to you all!
